Mr. Muffler has appeared in a number of videos as a subject matter expert on the topic of physical security, active shooter threat mitigation, and personnel protection. He was the featured personality for a series of Telly-Award-winning films for the U.S. Marshals Service, has been featured on CNN’s Wolf Blitzer and other national-and-local news outlets, and was included in the Department of Homeland Security’s Active Shooter Emergency Action Planning video (2017, left).

John has published articles on a variety of protective and security matters for digital-and-hardcopy outlets, including magazines for the American Bar Association, National Sheriffs Assoc., National Judicial College, National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, Naval Postgraduate School, and republished in Officer.com.

Most recently, he authored Every Victim, Every Witness: 12 Safety Considerations for the Juvenile and Family Court System, due for publication in late 2018, and Adjudicating in an Unsecured Workplace: How to Assess and Stay Safe, published in the Spring 2018 Judges’ Journal.

Workshops and Webinars

John Muffler has hosted seminars, workshops, webinars, and performed both as a solo speaker and panel members for security forums and events around the world. He has hosted Active Shooter Preparedness workshops nationwide on behalf of the Department of Homeland Security, and has facilitated or served as a subject matter expert for panels discussing behavioral threat assessment, protection, safety & security, social media risks, physical security vulnerabilities, and more, for a variety of stakeholders.
